I would say the biggest thing they could pick on you for is if it isnot running on straight gas. Since 253 havent been around for 20 yrs give or take its emmisions would have to be brought up to current specs by usung straight gas. In my hilux with 253 i am usung a 3 core radiator out of a landcruiser.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pick an engineer prior to committing any money or time to any major conversions. Talk to the engineer and ask him EXACTLY what is required. Ask a lot of questions and ensure you are both on the same page. Stick with him/her for the whole process if you can. Engineers often have differing interpretations of the regs. What one says is OK another may knock back.

AFAIK, an engine must be of the same or later year than the chassis. You may have trouble with the 253.

When going from petrol to a diesel engine this may not be such an issue as the diesel emissions regs have not changed as many times over the years as have the petrol regs.

as long as it is straight gas, there should be no problems, also needs exhaust exiting rear of back wheels, and noise under 92 db

gq wagon now a gq ute, straight gas tb42 with a thing on the side that makes it go fast
