Hey,
I just found out that my import Pajero has a EGT sensor/Gauge as part of the turbo timer fitted to it.
After some playing I found it seem to run at around 250C and I have only got it to 340C when climbing a mountain range.
What causes this lower temp? Tuning?
Or should I be checking something?
Thanks
Jason

Where is the sender located for the EGT, before or after the turbo, how far along the system the sensor is mounted will affect what the temp is, and what temp you should be aiming for.

After turbo temps can be alot cooler than if it was fited on the exhuast manifold.n_dorphin wrote:The sensor is mounted in the Dump pipe just after the turbo. not very far at all.
How do you test the sensor to see if still accurate?
Cheers

You get more accurate temps if the EGT is measures before the turbo. So if the temp sender can be relocated to teh exhuast manifold that would be better.
Have read that there can be over 100c difference in temps lost thru the turbo.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
I believe it can be closer to 200*.Have read that there can be over 100c difference in temps lost thru the turbo.
It appears that the generally regarded safe maximum pre turbo is 720*, and post turbo is 550*, and obviously this depends on exactly where the temps are taken......
