Tuff Truck 2006 Rocky

Post by BundyRumandCoke »

For those that didnt get to TT06, there was a Rocky there that was supposed to compete, but unfortunately transmission troubles prevented it from starting.

Its a F77 shell and chassis with Nissan running gear.

And if you were the guy with the white Rocky camped at TT, I did come looking to have a yarn, but I was told you were busy officiating.

The build on this was really rushed unfortunatley. Its running the nissan infinity 4.5 quad cam v8, to GQ auto and twin cases. Susp is pretty stock GQ with 40 inch Maxxis creepys ( sticky compound too, not your standard creey tyres!!!!) From what i was told the plan is to compete in we-rock with it, though there is still way to much pannel in IMHO to be competitive , esp withoug an exo.

I spoke to the owner of it when he arrived, he was pretty pissed off about the tranny probs  He said something around the lines of "If we get it running it's going on it's roof". Should be interesting to watch at WE Rock

tuff truck 06 rocky " OSCAR "

Post by maxtrax »

HI guys i own the shitter, the build up was rushed in the end because the auto lecky from adamstown taked 3 mths just to get it running (no test drive) also asked for no gaurds to be on it. so on thurs nigth before tt06 i made em to fit the 40's.and his bos who stuffed the exhaust i still not happy.
On a happyer note, the peroblem with the auto did stop me entering we rock. the vh45 flex plate needs a adpator to gq torque converter and spaced 28mm. which is complete and being fitted on monday. i also asked (3mths ago)the u-bute auto lecky at novacastrian auto, do i need a computer or electrics to the box. he said no! WELL he is wrong.
The morel of the storey is i am going to have the car ready to test drive in about aweek, and then but the rubber on the gaurds. and see if i need to change or modify any of my idears on the car.
i all ready know the ride hight is 2" to tall and need to remont rear shocks. along with final touches to presentation. i will be at werock round 2 in 6 weeks. rumur has it i'll roll it this is most likly true...

what do u think about the car ... cheers murray.

After all the effort of sticking the GQ's under there, why not go the whole way with a tri-4link rear and 3link+panhard or 5-link front. Also, if your planning on competing in we-rock, an EXO-cage would prob be a pretty good idea, or your going to get used to pulling your guards out of your engine bay after every course. Loosing a few inches of ride height will be a good idea deffinatley.Dont take anything here as a dig, just curious as to why you chose this setup. Good to hear it is sorted now, will be interesting to see it in action.
Cheers

Memory is a bit shady due to previous night's intake, but i'm pretty sure that it has GQ suspension links F&R (5link rear and radius arm front). DeWsE was looking at it with me, hopefully he will remember.
