I think the noise from the tappets could be eliminated with a ticker oil.
What do u think guys about this?
do u think a 15W50 diesel engines or a 20W50 diesel engines could eliminate that?
I think yes!
Please answer me! Did u try something about this subject?
Thanks in advance

MK which motor oil?
Yes it probably will to some extent, when do you want them quieter at startup or hot, we are coming into winter now so 50 oil is probably not needed on any engine, overall you may not be doing your engine any favors. Keep in mind the thinner the first number and the thicker the last number simply means more viscosity improver's are added these do not lubricate and simply makes a given quantity of oil work harder and will break down faster on average as the improver's shear and the oil thickens more with use and soot or thins with use due to raw fuel contamination.

Re: MK which motor oil?
I think you wont eliminate it. You may disguise it or quieten it temporarily, but it's not that much work to adjust the tappets is it? They are probably out of spec, meaning not only is your valve timing out (fuel consumption and power) but there's unnecessary impacts going on everytime you drive it.FredWP wrote:I think the noise from the tappets could be eliminated with a ticker oil.

A thicker oil wont put them back in spec.

I sat them at 0.35 mm warm engine perfectly just some days ago. I think this kind of engines need high grade oils to function. I am in Rome Italy and we have temperatures between 0° and 40° now is spring and soon it will be very very cold..... i think it could function nobody of you has tryed that? Do you use just 10w40 or 15W40 oils? which oil grades do u use normally?
Thank you for the answers!

the thicker the oil the less tappet noise you will here.
dont run anything thicker in it than 20w60 weight.
In aus we tend to run 20w50 commonly.
