Today at work we got a delivery of the first 40 x 13.5 x 17 inch comp spec Maxxis Creepy Crawlers in the country. You have to see these tyres, they are so soft, you can almost leave fingerprints in the tread and you can twist a lug and it slowly returns back.
I want some, but I am broke
You have to feel these tyres to believe how soft they are, we have a few sets at work so if anyone wants to come and have a feel, feel free. And by the way, these tyres are for sale and are at a cheap price, they won't last for long!

Rubber and plastic hardness is measured using a durometer. For example, the MAXXIS downhill mtb tyres I use come in durometer values of 40a, 42a, 50a and 60a durometer. The a refers to the test method. The 40 or 42 durometer tyres sound similar to what you describe.

The Rocky that was parked at TTC due to transmission issues had a set of maxxis "stickys" on it. Way soft tyres, would work unreal on rocks IMHO. Not sure if these are the same tyres you refering to. Think Sean from ABT had organised them, though i was a bit pissed at time and not sure of exact details. But they were deffinatley softer than the regular creepy's.

i do the testing all the time for this at work. we use a standard called shore a hardness for flexables and shore d for ridgids. the tested needs to be ordered 8mths in advance and costs over $600 for what liiks like a odified dial gauge

As far as I know, Maxxis have only just started to make te 40's in the comp compound, and we got the first sets in Australia, and have also been told that Maxxis will be producing comp spec tyres in smaller sizes soon, they are working there way down from 40"

I was just on pirate, and had a look at the WErock pro nationals, there seems to be a lot more maxxis tyres in the field now, both creepy and trepadore, even bruce zeller ir running them now on scrapper, have a look there are some ausom pics, and a couple of endover roll's

It doesn't seem to work like that, since the softer tyres are more flexible, they don't seem to lose chunks like the hard tyres do. They do wear a LOT faster though... I wonder if Tony (RUFF) could manage to do a full comp on one set???

Are these the New Comp spec Compound or the Old Comp Spec Compound?
They are the new comp spec compound, strait from the docks to work, I didnt know there was an old comp compound, but these are new, still hot off the mold
