1500kg seems a bit high to me?

Just found this old thread:

I know the brakes are sadly lacking once you put a trailer on behind- and I've got upgraded front brake pads too!

I've always found the brakes to be exceptionally good for a 4by. I towed a trailer with 2 dirt bikes and heaps of camping gear all over western NSW and occasionally did "emergency stops" to test them....pulled up very nicely. Have also towed a 6.3m fibreglass boat several times, and although it was in excess of rated tow cap., she still pulled up fantastically.

Not sure about Narrow Track though??

Thank's for the thread and all your input. Thinking about buying a caravan weighs 1065kg with brakes so should be alright. I was just worried about legall capacity cause it's a 16' caravan and the feroza looks a bit small pulling it, so I didn't want too attract attention. If it's legall towing capacity is 1500kg braked then I don't have any problems.

The brakes are the same for both. I'm running Metal King Plus front pads and with a loaded trailer I certainly feel the extra weight pushing it along when stopping. I wouldn't like to have to pull up in a hurry.

bit late now since you have sold the feroza, but the daihatsu feroza legal towing capacity is 1100kg braked, taken directly from an australian vehicle tow mass regulation manual. but might help any one else who may wanna know

Yeah, you'll find that the TD has a higher capacity than the petrol models though.

BTW, did you guys know that a Rocky was the first vehicle to ever tow a caravan across the Simpson Desert? :armsup:

can find out but it varies from model, usually goes of the overall vehicle mass and not engine capacity. will post up in the next few days

MMM i know i was overweight :roll: when i headed down to sydney to pick up a zook for my girlfriend. yeah, my roza, car trailer with brakes, and a zook on it. made it home but it was :bad-words: going up hill all the way.
