For some more clarification I had an inch of lift with 33's, so you get another yes. Probably the best combination too, 2" + 33' mmmmm

if it is fitted with factory flares you have to do a bit of cutting at the bottom of flares and take mud flaps off

Mud flaps will definately have to come off.. they'll rub on cornering, and I can gurantee you'll rip some off when you go offroad (I lost 3 in one trip)

33s

Post by Brunsy »

I have BFG 33x10.5's and had no probs even when I had saggy old standard springs, now i have 2inch OMEmu springs and still run factory flares and mud flaps. Front tyres get close at times to mudflaps but havent lost any yet. These tyres also mean you can keep your 7inch rims.

Get some radius arm spacers from bbm motorsport, they will allow you to retain mudflaps with a 2 inch lift as it shifts your wheels foward. Only cost $50 and are easy to fit.

on the road maybe. take her 4wheelin and listen to the rubs and groans and watch your mudflaps and flares dissappear.
now remove your swaybars and get some serious flexing happening and you've got total carnage.

when i had just 4" suspension lift i destroyed my front mudflaps under full articulation and full steering lock with 33x12.5's

now i run 35x11.5's with 5" lift and 2" body lift, no front mudflaps and a bit of folding over of lip where flap goes - no rubbing, only on chassis which you don't worry about

Used to run 33x12.5 cooper st on 2" ome lift - swb gq

Tore front l/h mudflap off on articulation - Also rubbed considerably on rear qtr's!
Not talking it up - That's the facts of of what happened with that setup on my gq.

I forgot to meniton, you'd probably want a body lift to go with the spring lift.. the lip on the rear arches cut the piss out of the rear tyre on full travel, and will probably chop a few lugs off.. mine have some nasty lookin marks on them from that

I have a 4inch lift, and my mudflaps are still there with a set of 34JT's onboard.

The factory flairs were fine on with 33x12.5 BFG MTs (old style) when I had them, and they got buried quite regularly.

The only place thats a real issue is the inner guard on rear, and chassis rail.

You'll reverse under full artic, or full steer lock, rub on a mound, rut, log, woteva .tyre will grab flap, pull it and munch it!!

i also happen to note you've got a body lift, I think the question refers to a straight 2" spring lift

I agree with GQ bear. You blokes mustn't take your 4wds off road if you havn't ripped your mudflaps off. :finger:

I ripped my mudflaps off within 10 minutes of 4wding with a 4inch lift and 33x12.5 so I can only imgaine the damage you would do with 33s and 2inch lift if you do any serious 4wding.

Cheers Mick.

Hey shorty,

Not all 33's measure 33", some measure bigger, some smaller depending on the tyre, my 33"swampers actually measure 34+, so keep that in mind.

I've run 35's on mine with 2"BL and 2" spring and never had a drama even under full artic, did rub the front mudflaps a little (which I had chained back so it wouldn't get caught). However I fitted some slightly longer lower arms on the rear and have been running 33" super swampers and last week ripped a rear mudflap off. So if you're running stock lower arms on the rear I don't see any problems, having said that look at all my bro's  above.......it might just depend on the vehicle a bit too.

Only way to go is go and give them a try, maybe see if you can borrow some for a drive and flex it up and see if they'll clear. If any thing they might catch the front factory mudflap, but for $50 you can get radius arm spacers which will solve the problem.

Good luck with it.
