Totaly sick of Laptop Bouncing around on Passengers Seat, Looking @ Creating A Custom Mount for the Laptop - Any Idea's??
GQ Patrol - As it's a Shorty with no rear seating, I'm after something that can either fold out of passengers way or be easily removed when not out wheeling..
Im looking for the same ideas Pete.
Just bought a laptop with ozi, etc to do a navrun and after ideas.
I found a site which had a couple of ideas like this. http://www.peppernet.org/GPS/installati ... l&id=1
Although I havent got the jesus bar in the lux, so I will have to do it another way.
It says the lappy is just held to the board with velcro, which would work I suppose.
This is all I could find... I've been looking at setting my Tablet PC up in my rig and looking at options... My dashboard is fairly flat.. so i'm looking at securing it straight to that.
I reckon the telescopic pole bolted down to near the passenger seat mounting holes would be a feasable option... and the top can be removed, and the pole either taken out or slid down nearly out of the way when a passenger is seated in the car.
i'd be rushing out and buying an IFS rocky
I've been thinking of putting a PC im my truck
Don't want to spend much over 1k
Thought of a cheap laptop, but where you gonna mount it
If it is fixed to the dash might become a hazzard in a collision and cops may not like it plus pedestrians can see it when your parked
Screen hinge will probally berak pretty quick when bouncing around off road. The seat will now be absorbing alot of the impacts
Could probally hide it under the seat and feed it to 7" LCD and touch pad on the dash
Another option is to use a Carputer (not ?sp). DIN sized in-dash PCs with LCD and touch pad or touchscreen. Problem with touch screen is left handed use from drivers seat.
Thinking if I ever get around to it I will go the hidden laptop option with LCD, touchpad and USB GPS mouse.
For around $300 you can get a 8 inch touch screen off ebay that folds away into a single din stereo space. It has all the software to plug into the laptops usb, data can be entered by the on screen keyboard and move the pointer around by dragging your finger.
I'm just saving my dollars to set this up in the cruiser with a usb gps reciever.
