Anything worth getting out of a LJ81? -Pics now

Post by nicbeer »

Hi,

Mates found a LJ81 no top in the bush, looks to still run with the 797cc motor.

Anything worth grabbing out of it?

he's hopefully got it running tempprarily or towing it and hiding it so i can go see it soon (at work at mo), hope it will still be there. Rust is everywhere in it.

Thanks

Nic

they have 4:6 diffs stock, which easily fit into 1.0 litre Sierras.

some have 16" rims which fit sierras.

most stuff useable is suitable for 1.0 litre sierras.

they have a lower t-case, but not an easy fit, and not very tuff.

As per Chris's comments - other than the 16" rims, not all that much. The transfer is cool, but will not fit a sierra without really major work, as both front and rear diffs are centred on a an LJ. The transfer gearing is cool though.

Ok, i've been out to see it.

Rustiest thing i have ever seen or driven.

It is a LJ81 ute. 797cc motor and 4spd. all driveline is ok. go's hard and pulls the revs.

Has the 16s on it i think.

Unusuall things i have seen is it has the later model 1.3 NT driveshafts in it. Is this normal for this era. Also does the rear window and front window same as sierra?

Will get pics of ute. Rear diff is welded to chassis and rear brakes are non existand, wood on floor to stop feet going through and no seatbelt. :D :D
