shackle reversal?
shackle reversal?
I was just wondering if anybody has reversed the front shackles instead of being on the front of the spring to the back like the hilux and all that
just an idea so when i put bigger shackles and springs its not going to be sticking a foot out the front of the car
EDIT: i think madzuki has it?

Yes. With a SR the diff moves backwards on up travel instead of forwards. My front diff is over 6" forward of stock location now, but it's not neccesary to go quite that far forward, especially with smaller tyres.just cruizin' wrote:For a SR you'd be wanting to move the diff foward anyway right?

Were you also planning on ripping it all out when it doesn't work?ofr57 wrote:well i was planning on putting it in without a chassie extension so that i would be able to fit alittle longer spring and longer shackles without effecting the approch angle

Seriously, if Moose & Redzook don't chime in hit them up with a PM. Those guys have done it and their rigs work, and I doubt they will tell you doing it without a chassis extension is a good idea.

Also have quite a good approach angle with my setup, not quite 90 deg but not far off.
Moose, how does your setup flex being SPUA? You got rears up front? I once measured you could run RUF with SR and it would give a good approach angle and get the diff a little forward. Seems like you basically have that

check my UFO buildup thread for more pics, but mines SR with hilux fronts on 31's... approach angle is better than stock by far (its 62 degrees with 31s, was around 45 degrees stock with bar), obviously larger tyres will make the approach much more awesome =P
