Front Hubs on a 92 Vitara

Post by luxbloke »

Bought the misus a vitara a couple of weeks ago.

Got it off a chick, who got it off her mum and she had it since new. She reckons it's been engaged in 4WD once in it's life - About 12 years ago...

Tried to get her in 4wd today and I had some drama's actually turning the hub switch, but got that moving, can't seem to get the little zook to engage the front wheels.

If I pull apart the hubs is there 50,000 springs that are going to jump out at me??? I'm pretty good at doing all my own maintainance etc... but I've never taken a hub apart before...

I think the hubs just need a good lube...

Cheers
Matt

mine were jammed when i bought mine back in the day

pull them apart, its just one big spring thats pretty simple to reseat if it isn't in the correct spot.

if it has only ever been used once though, it could be siezed solid, or snapped or anything, you'll just have to pull it apart and check it out
