strengthening std 40# steering

strengthening std 40# steering
I did a search but couldn't find anything specific. I did find this ( http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... teering+75 ) that mentioned 75 and 40 diffs are the same width. does this mean i could upgrade my common steering bits to 75 gear, using 40 tre's?
I was out at ormeau this morning and bent my relay rod (i think thats wot its called)..

I think i remember MY45 sayin he used 75# steering links with a 5mm sleeve for the 40 tre's. If this is the case where would you go about getting the sleeve made for them? could you just get some 5mm wall pipe and tap that??
is there any other alternatives to whats listed above that you guys know of? I dont have a 60#ps setup so the standard 40# steering box exists so if I could strengthen all bits (tie rod,drag link) it would be good (the drag link has a slight bend too) but the relay rod is first priority i guess

I would like to do this but i think it'll cost me a bit initially. after discussing the requirements with my mechanic I am leaning towards just bracing the relay rod with some angle.. and yes I'm aware of the legalities of this (or rather the lack of). this will be a quick fix until I can arrange something stronger and more permenant
However, I am still keen in upgrading my front end components and have sourced some prices on new 75# relay and tie rods ($75 and $82 respectively).
Can anyone please elaborate on whats required for the sleeves required to help fit the 40# TRE's into the 75# relay rod? ie, what source material do you make them from, how do you make them and can you recommend somewhere (say a machining place or fab'ing place) that would have the best knowhow and equipment to make them?
