4.5 pertol 80 series engines

im looking at buying a 93 4.5 ltr dual fuel cruiser. my question is how many kms are these engines good for? i know it all depends on how the thing has been driven but it is in stock condition which points to a pretty easy life.

The 4.5 is a 4/5/600,000+ km engine in good nick, serviced well, and with valve clearances done regularly on lpg converted ones, and by book if non lpg. Some have a problem with head gasket, but if been done, and original head gasket been done, not a problem any more.

A flat spot in the pre 95 4.5's can rear up sometimes, which is greatly improved by advancing timing, and cleaning air flow meter.

hi ive got a 100 series with the same engine started blowing smoke at 150000 ks with full sevice history the valve stem seals are rooted was quite disapointed not sure how the previous owner drove it and even toyota couldnt beleive it needless to say they didnt want to know about it though even though they sold it to me and did all of the services in the log book there advice was put some thicker oil in it got to say but its now got 205000 on the clock and i still havent fixed it and it pulls up hills heaps easier than my 80 series does havent even changed or cleaned the plugs either for over 50000ks. ive also got an 80 series aswell and its got 160000 on the clock and is really good.had one before to that had 300000 on it and still went strong with no smoke.i guess it all boils down to how well its been looked after and driven the condition of the car overall including interior is a pretty good indication of how well its been looked after

A few of my mates are running the 4.5 in their crusiers ans have done it hard on the limiter with tyres no smaller than 35s and up to 38.5s and are anywhere from 250ks to 350ks. I have the virgin with only 165ks. All of our cars are serviced before any trips or 5000ks and none of us have ever had any dramas.
