Fitting racing seats

i have a nissan patrol BUT it would go for any one who has done this
i want to fit a set of seats the the patty.how have people mounted them
in the patrol its got brakets to raise the seat,just curious of how people have done this in the past. cheers

ive got 2 autotechnica seats ready to go in, im gonna try and get a set of rails from the manufacturer if they make them.

Other wise ill just make up some sort of bracket to make them fit the standard seat rails.

saas seats in mine. 25mmbox one side 6mm x 50mm the other 6x50 joining left to right. the seat mounts aftermarket are normally flat to thats what you have to aim for

i just picked up some steel to make my mounts for my new bucket seats. im going to use 50x25x3 RHS

I put SAAS seats in mine.

I used the standard rails, but swapped sides (inner to the outer and outer to the inner) then topped it with some 30mmX3mm angle.

this might be thinking out side the box but
im going to be fitting some 80 series seats to my current rails and all im going to do is get some 4mm plate and bolt it to the rails then bolt that to the bottem of the seat where the original 80 series rails would have bolted

was thinking of welding some bits of angles across but not sure if its needed

this way no need for any welding just cut the plate to size and drill 8 holes and its done

just fitted two auto tecnica seats to the troopy, was able to re-use the rails and use 6x40mm spring flat to bridge to the seats. Make sure you use 8.8 HT bolts as this is what ADR requires.

I've heard of someone using Honda Prelude seats (i think it was a prelude, maybe an integra). anyway, anyone else heard of this or any other type of seat ya can get from a wreckers for next to nothin and make a bracket for fit

I put WRX seats in my Lux and just used the Lux rails. Ground them off; then welded and bolted (high tencile) them onto the new seats, painted them up and got a blue plate no worries.

Just what do you mean by "Racing" seats? By that, I take it you mean fixed back pressed steel/suspension seat like a sparco sprint, or a shell seat like a Recaro SP-G

Some of these seats have an 8mm side mounting (like the SP-G) while others have a more conventional 8mm underside bolt (like a Sparco sprint)

A reclining seat is NOT a racing street. There are no reclining seats that are FIA approved.

IMHO many seats that have ADR approval are rubbish and not up to anything like competition use.

If you require ADR approved (and safe) bases, try your local Recaro agent.

They are typically able to get bases made up that wil not raise the eyebrows of any scruitineer or your insurance company.

I am not at all biased - I own Sparco and Recaro "racing" seats and old school Flofit seats I have made my own bases for the flofits and sparcos, but the Recaro was fitted on a factory recaro base. (in my case for a new Mini Cooper S) I think that if you are talking about a road driven, comprehensively insured car, you want an ADR approved base.

no not racing seats,sports seats the are fully reclinable,and can be fitted with harness,like a saas seat or so on just these have no brand on em'
