Hi all - has anyone experienced problems with the engine malfunction light illuminating while driving?? Has happened a couple of times when touring after the air conditioner is turned on. Car loses all power. Can be reset by idling down, and turning ignition off, then on.
Had a Dtronic installed recently. Not sure if it's related, but it didn't happen previously.
Car is a an 05 model 15,000km, 3.0 TD manual.
Save any jokes about engine detonation possibilities, thanks.

GU 3.0 TD Engine Malfunction Light (Dtronic related??)
Neetas,
It sounds like it is going to limp home mode, a friends hilux now does it after fitting a chip also...he has 5 settings and running it any higher than 3 the engine will do what yours sounds to be doing. Something along the line of the engine thinks it is in cold mode and then detecs fast/higher revs and shuts the engine down to limp home mode.
At the moment he is looking at running more boost to counter act this.

the engine warning light is hooked upto the water sensor float in the fuel filter on the ZD30 Nissan patrols and the engine light will luminate when the water trap is full in the bottom of the fuel filter, there is a little drain rooster like a wingnut at the bottom of the fuel filter just loosen it let the water drain out and you shouldnt have any problems after that if the engine light stayes on just go to your local Nissan dealer and they can plug consult 2 into it and check for codes
GQ LWB TD42, boost, lockers etc

Guys - thanks for the feedback. Will check out the water in the filter suggestion.
Also have it booked in to check sluggish performance off idle. When I start it (cold) and try to reverse up the driveway, bloody thing near stalls and a poke of the accelerator yields silence ie doesn't rev it up .... takes about 5-10 secs of throttle stabbing to get action. Same problem when hot, when taking off from lights on any sort of incline. Heaps worse with camper trailer attached. And I thought the Dtronic was supposed to help this!
Anyway dealer is going to check air flow sensor. I'll report back any findings. Any similar problems??
Cheers
