'98 Vitara Manual Hub Conversion.

Post by threeofnine »

Hello all,

I have tried to do a search for this on the forum using the forums search features and also using Google, but was unable to find an article on this, if there is one please direct me to it.

My Auto hubs on my Vit are failing, making an awful clicking noise when engaged in 4WD, so I intend to swap them over for manual hubs.

What do all of you knowledgeable Suzukians recommend I source the manual hubs from? Vitara manual hub, Sierra manual hub, new replacement aftermarket hubs?

Also, any tricks or techniques in making this change, I have had the AUTO hubs off, is just a matter of removal of existing AUTO hubs, and installation of the manual hubs?

Thanks greatly in advance.

When you get the manual hubs make sure you also get the bolts AND cone washers too as I think the auto hubs use different bolts.

I have just put manual hubs on my 99 gv . I got 92 vitara hubs that come with bolts and washers .Job was easy to do just slipped off auto hub and bolted new ones on 1/2 hour job .And the clicking noise might not be the auto hubs it could be the air opp. diff .
Now with locked diff to keep up with rav4s
