Nissan GU Flare's

Hey All,

Teaching the Mrs how to drive (On L plates) and told her to swing wide in teh carpark, however wide wasnt wide enough.

Ended up tearing off the rear right flare (which are colour coded). Car was very quiet driving home after that, also a few loud voices !!! ARGH

Took the whole flare assembly off last night and need to fix the following to re-attach the colour coded flares with new battle wounds. Wish they plain plastic.

1- On both the large outer flare and door insert, plastic mounts have been snaped off, Can these be simply glued on, or do I need to get them plastic welded back on ?

2- Quite a few plastic clips are broken, is tehre a mounting kit from Nissan or just buy what you need over the parts desk.

3- Time to find a tin of touch up paint !

i have broken my flares i cant glue them back on. I mite try a plastic welder, the plastic Clips come in a pack of 5 for about $4 from nissan

Just called Nissan and they said to come down and pick out the clips required. They said they have 99% of them.

As far as the molded plastic part which broke off, I thinking it will need plastic welding.

got the same problem on mine. The top screw mount was snapped off and I tried to use a soldering iron to melt it all back together. Didn't work too well as the thing is very thin. On close inspection it also looks like the bottom of it has an extra thin section almost as if it was designed to snap off at that point. So, there is really stuff all plastic to melt the thing back together.

I ended up putting in a metal bracket to support the bit that the screw attaches to, and it lasted a while but popped out so I need to rework it.

Called my local panel beater (family has been going there 20 years) and they said they can weld some stuff. Said to drop in next week after long weekend. Will leave till then to see if they fix the flares ! and maybe get the broken clips. Will let you know how I go.

You can easily do it your self

Use Loctight 480. Use a liberal amount and clamp it over night. i have used this on both of my rear flares as have other mates with no problems.

Just make sure you clamp it for a day or so. The label says it's instnt drying but for the flares you need to wait longer.
