toyota blower on h motor

Post by Orange 47 ute »

Was considering putting one of those 1ggze blowers that u get 4 $350 on my hj45. Has anyone done this as i think it will offer a reasonable gain for the dollars involed if u do all the fab work yourself. Can a H motor handle boost? What sort of boost am i looking at i was considering keeping to the 7psi that these superchargers run standard? Is a intercooler worthwile as i reckon a subaru liberty rs or a celica gt4 water to air cooler would suffice as there is not much room in the front of a 40. Already have a double crank pulley and am willing to fit myself. Also being a roots blower it would make boost of idle unlike a turbo. I have the skills to make a turbo manifold but am reluctant to do so if i dont have to. If Fitting a blower is trying to reinvent the wheel what second hand turbo would be suitable. I sure other have had this idea but if anyone has fitted one of these blowers to a deisel i am open to ideas.

The blower off a 1ggze (also called a sc14 i think) won't be big enough for a 2h deisel these blowers are designed for a 2.0ltr 6 pot not a 4.0 or 4.2, best bet is to get an eaton M90 (commodore) or M112. have a mate with one on his 1hz went like a dog shot in the butt till he blow the top off all the pistons
if it ain't broke send it to me i'll fix it!

the boost that it makes will depend on the speed that you run it at. the engineering involved is fairly complicated - far more difficult than building a turbo exhaust manifold but if you're keen, go for it. I'd say it's probably about the right size blower for that motor. have a go at it without an intercooler first - make sure you fit an exhaust temp gauge to keep combustion chamber temperatures under control and you fiddle with fuel and boost levels.

A h motor is only 3.6 litres if I remember correctly. They also have a butterfly in the intake with vacuum govenors, dont know how that would be affected with a supercharger, bit more fooling around to put it before the supercharger I guess.
Allways been a TOYOTA man.
Now I'm old and grumpy as well.
