really? for a DX? (looks like a dx...? :? )

If thats cheap then how much would you expect to pay for a 2000 model ST 3.0TD auto, 113,000kms. Full service history, dual airbags, rust proofed & re-rustproofed. Full electrics cd player etc etc... Alloy bar & spots. (it has suspension/tyres but lets just say stock for comparisons sake)

Serious question, i just thought it would be worth less than that is all :?

(and dont be a smart arse just cos its a 3.0! :finger: )
All the gear, No idea...

$29k... 118,000klms.
thats cheap!
Good klm's, but:

- only a DX
- non turbo
- is 7 years old
- was only $45K brand new (7 years ago)

Not really that cheap!

slight hijack ...

i'm looking for a bigger 4wd myself. now, should i look at getting a 4.2l turbo diesel (if i can get one for my price, and i love my diesel atm) or a 4.5l duel fuel petrol. hoping for ideas on economics on day to day running as well as servicing etc

it will be used to some extent as the family car (really depends on what other car we get as a run around) and 4wd trips - medium to hard trips overnights to 2-3 days. will be aiming 35-36" tyres, lockers eventually and bar and winch

currently have middy cruiser, turbo, rear locker, 35" claws, cheezy bar & himount

thanks guys

I'd hardly call that cheap

I saw in 4x4 autotrader GU 4.2 TD with and with out intercoolers in ST spec not DX for between 30 and 35k

You can pick up the GU 4.2 cheap they're more out there now they do command a higher price than 3L but not as much as they used to....

for an example look what gueey just bought for 28k

There are some out there, but are 200k klms+ and not the best condition needing tires and other bits.

i sold mine about 2 years ago for $33k. '99 DX, 120,000km, bullbar, towbar, DTS turbo w 3" mandrel at 12psi, twin locked, dual batts, snorkel, 33" MT's (8 of), rear drawers, 2" lift, winch, spots, uhf, cd, ERPS and it was in damn good nick if i do say so myself. I'd love it back now!

I wouldn't pay anything like $29k without a turbo on it.

My truck was very cheap for TD42T with 89,000 Ks ( ST )
and loaded with all the gear i would want.
Sadly it was from a deceased estate and none of the family new of the value the 4.2s hold.
They went to the Glasses Guide and priced it from there!
I was in Fine Chioce 4x4 sales when i got the lucky call.
i was looking at the only 4.2 in the yard and in was the same model, year and Ks and they were askink 37,950 for it. a week later it was sold!

Huh - everyone?? I do hope that is sarcasm!

Let's recap what others had to say:

And to answer your question - "how much would it be worth"?

To be honest, don't really know. What is safe to say is that it would be worth more than the comparable 4.8 or 3.0 - a lot more! The 4.2's hold very good value and normally command a minimum $6K+ over the same 4.8 or 3.0 (if you can find one - I also have a mate looking for one).

According to carsales.com, 3.0 and 4.8 are worth about same and 4.2 is about 3-4K more(for 2002 model)

Considering that 4.2 was about 6k dearer and 4.8 about 4k dearer,3.0 held it's value the best.
Real world figures might be different, but that's what valuation on carsales.com show

I would suggest "real world" would be vastly different.

I'd suggest a late model 4.2 intercooled should fetch $38-40k ish. The km are quite high but I'm assuming it's in good nick. Don't see too many for sale so you might be able to get better.

I would suggest you will get very close to this. Much sort after variant, and it's a long up to a new one - $55K+. Should sell pretty quick too.

Supply and demand should work in your favour.

EDIT: What are you changing over to?
