Shock mounts
Just wondering if anyone could post some pics of there custom made Shock mounts and towers, im going to make some shortly for my rangie and have the ideas in my head on what i'll do, but some piccies of what everyone else has done would be great!
Wanted: Car trailer or beaver tail truck, let me know what you got
I was going to make my own but the other week while over at LRA I got sucked in and bought their kit. It is not cheap but it is great and can be engineered if necessary. (about the only bit of the Rangioe that would pass engineering. )
Here are some pics.
Rear raised mounts.
Front raised mounts.

hey walker,
I was eyein the kit off yesterday and the only thing that put me off was the non retained rear spring making that extra travel in the back almost useless without a locker ohh and the lack of cash flow atm.
anyone had drama's with this (sorry for the hijack)
back on topic find someone with the lra kit and go similar heights and shock lengths because if what they tried to sell me on was true, its the most travel you can get before the standard linkages bind up.

Yes they are, I just put them on today. The angle is perfect for a 2" lift and there is no stress on the bush when on flat ground.rick130 wrote:Adam, were these the new angled ones at the chassis outrigger ??walker wrote:<snip>I have already chewed out the rear trailing arm bushes in just 3 weeks.

HOPE THE LINK WORKS BUT IF YOU LOOK AROUND THERE SITE I THINK THERE ARE MORE PICTURES THINK THEY MAY DO EXTENDED ONES.

AP i had those HUGE ass front towers for a while... they were CRAP!!! He updated me over a year ago and the new kit is sweet!! I still want to retain the rear springs thou...AnthonyP wrote:good to see LRA has changed the front turret spacer system aswell as reinforced the rear upper...
My rear upper mounts bent on the first outing, the kickers colapsed and the front turrets were a PITA and i ditched em... Looks like most of these issues have been rectified.

Take your caps lock off - so that you are not shouting at peeps.
As far as I can tell from the UK scene, they don't go for extended shock mounts, indeed shorter shock mounts seem to be popular there (for more droop with drop out cones).
Here we are interested in extended mounts so as not to bottom out longer shocks at max bump travel.

Shakes have a read of this –

Anyone else got some pics of their rear shock setup? i looked at raising the original mounts but it looke like the bush angle will be right up the shit. so i was thinking of making a pin to eye adaptor for each end and making a top shock mount set up for pin? any other thoughts preferably with pics

The angle of the stock upper mount is not ideal. This is why they sometimes bend/break shockie rods.cloughy wrote:Anyone else got some pics of their rear shock setup? i looked at raising the original mounts but it looke like the bush angle will be right up the shit. so i was thinking of making a pin to eye adaptor for each end and making a top shock mount set up for pin? any other thoughts preferably with pics
