because tough tracks is an untimed event, we do not require internal cages however you do have to have rollover protection for challenge class eg a ute must have rollbar mounted to tray as a minimum. trophy class rollbar only required if it is a soft top vehicle.
doesn't matter if you have steel or fibreglass panels.
I have an 80 series wagon (full orginal roof) and diffinitely in challenge class do I need a roll cage, I do have a complaint Milford Cargo Barrier. I have asked this question before and recieved different answers. It is the only thing that has stopped me entering before.
Cheers,

you need rollover protection ... a cargo barrier is not rollover protection unless its made of 40mm pipe or something.
you don't need a full roll cage but it would be a good thing as you could then do other comps.

Well I guess this counts me out then. A Roll bar behind the drivers seat is on the cards, but too busy with a couple of other things at the moment. I think it would be helpful to add a bit more of a discription of what you call roll over protection into your specs. As I said before I have recieved different responses to the same question from Tough Tracks Members...

Yes, thats fine..
From the tought tracks web site:
3.3.5 DIFFERENTIALS
The differential system for that make of vehicle shall be retained unmodified
except that differential locks may not be used.
Differentials may be strengthened.
Differential ratios are free.
An LSD is a type of Locking centre it's not a "fully open" centre.
A nissian LSD is a good tight LSD, if a nissian with a Standard LSD compete against a Zook (don't think they have LSD's), MQ, older hilux, 4# 55 6# Land cruiser the Nissian has a HUGE advantage.
It might be factory and standard but it is not what is written in the rules.

Thats the way i read it too, but i think grant assumed that the LSD in the zook was stock.

LSD is an LSD. if it is stock or not it's still a big advantage

There are zooks around with factory LSD's but they are quite rare. Still seems pretty unfair to me when its basically a locker coz they shim them up but i spose its just bending the rules not breaking them?
