V8 into 130 Cab Chassis

Post by all4fun »

Is it possible to bolt up any of the Rover V8 Petrol engines into a 130 cab chassis? I think the gearbox is a R380 in the 130. If not is there an adapter available to install a new chev v8? any options you could recomend would be greatly appreciated.

Rover V8 will bolt up to R380.
New chec LS1 gen 3 torque to far up rev range to be of much use.

Vortec much better option.

If you change the bellhousing on the R380, and weld in new engine mounts to the chassis then you could fit a rover V8 - best option would be a 3.9 from a disco.

Why change the bellhousing? The R380 bolts up to both the diesel and V8's, i think they have the same bolt pattern.

Last time I checked they didn't, and AFAIK the V8 has a smaller hole in the flywheel for the input shaft - so you would have to machine down the input shaft, or machine out the flywheel and fit a sintered bush from a Tdi.

Yes the spigot on the input shaft of R380 is a different size.
Diesel, Petrol. Diesel is larger. will require a new input shaft to fit on roverV8 if I remember correctly there is not enough meat rto bore out a petrol to take a diesel input spigot.
