Nissan Skyline
Nissan Skyline
Ok, I know its not a 4WD buts its a Nissan. My Finace' (aka Mrs) is on er L plates and will get her licence in June.
Just bougt her, her first car a Nissan Skyline 1988 sedan TI with all power options for $450. Mechanicly all is good just small dings in most panels but still looks clean.
Car was dirty as hell and is taking shape. after fixing the boot lock last night and some electrices today. ony thing left for rego is new bulb for front left light and possible some new retreads.
After my Nrs smashed the rear left flare last week, worked out its cheaper for her to smash her own car. I'm also thinking it may be a possible option to swap the Nissan 3L and box into my new G60 project ? any thoughts ?

got an rb 30 lump in my patrol accelarates quicker than my mates diesel 80 series. Was really good to drive on the high way with the factory fitted 31 tyres, kind of killed it with the 35 tyres. but works better around town with the 35s. get 15 litres to 100km out and about.
The rb25 and rb 26 heads off the nissan skylines can be fitter reasonably easy.
A good exsaust and fuel injection make a good differance from what i have read on here.

Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

THe skyline 3.0L is injected , so would be preferential to the standard RB30 carby setup in the patrol. Though there are internal differences between RB30E and RB30ET, so if you plan to whack a turbo on later remember that the compression will be higher than a factory turbo motor. There are plenty of performance upgrades for these motors, and as already said the RB25,20and 26 heads can be made to fit, though its not a bolt on job, requireing oil galeries to be re-drilled etc. Though these heads are designed to work with high revs, not really a setup for a good 4wd. Parts are cheap and easily available. But as already said, the motor has a big truck to push.

For the rb 25 and 26 convertion have look at
http://www.meggala.com/RB30head.htm
According too this you do not need too modify the water ways etc. Having not done the job who knows.

Some of my mates have done twin cam head conversions. Depending on the head used, will alter the exact modifications made.
Though for a general 4wd perspective the head swap is not really the best valuce for money. Get A RB30ET if you want power. A descent exhaust, bit more boost and a re-tune will be much more practical than a twin cam head swap.
