hey guys just wondering what a CV should be worth?
rng local wreckers, rekons normal 175, do it for $150
dunno bout yopu guys, but is that expensive????
noone to blame but myself i guess,
anyone else in Sydney or anything bought one, i work every now and then down at Wetherill Park so Sydneys not out of the question and theres heaps down that way, but without rinigng around what should i be expestying to pay for one???
there's a place over in kingsgrove that would be worht a call, got them to do mine, cost about $240 fitted, not sure of the name, i'll look it up and post later
thanks dan, i dunno but, i cant imagine its that difficult, is it not just a pull out and replace job? much like the procedure to do a cv boot?... thats what i was presuming, if so ill be doing it myself, not paying for labour when i can do it in the driveway, i keep trying to picture though what shaft/axle is in there? its the passneger outer CV, so what will i need the CV and what shaft/axle? its only the first and local place iv rung, should i be looking at wreckers or go to a local cv/driveshaft place and source a new replacement or should i go factory or just stick to wreckers...? i was just thinking wreckers, might drop in and see local CV/driveshaft guy,
yeh thats kinda what i was thinking dan, anyone know what the options are??? for a new CV? is the only option factory or is there aftermarket, somewhere like repco??? or somewhere else?
Repco may sell them, however you are probably better off finding someone who re-builds them. We have about 3 places that rebuilds CV's on the coast so you should be able to find someone down your way! It's normally an exchange but they should still take your broken one!
yeh thanks hudson, im going to go round and see one of the blokes in gosford, Peter Gray CV and Ddriveshafts, hes looked after me before with cv boots and what not, good bloke who does good work, might go see him then, hes usually pretty good on the wallet too
so this was the damage, and the bloke couldnt get a new shaft so i ended up getting a whole new complete cv shaft and the two cvs, from the diff to the hub for $120. was better than when i rang them up, so paj is back together, and heres the damage, well what i got back from the cv/driveshaft bloke, no wonder it needed a new shaft:
obviously some dick unlocked the wrong hub and kept driving thoguht i had done the drivers, unlocked that and kept driving, and evidently this doesnt work with the shaft and broken cv combo, god damn hippies!
cos i took the "shortcut to work" and by the time i got stuck halfway up and was running out of time to get to work, the brain wasnt functioning properly was it, ahh well, no biggy, got a few spares now, and also gained some experience, next time im sure i will unlock both to be sure
