I've got a TB42e dual fuel and have been thinking about running straight gas, I recently found out about gas injection.
Can I use std petrol efi system and injectors for gas and what's involved?
Also i want to raise lpg tank into cavity created by 2" body lift. anyone successfully done this? with pics?

"I had communication via email to Barry at Gas Injection Technologies about 6 months ago. At the time his system was very close to the end of the development stage, but he had nothing to sell. The system that I spoke to him about was also Sequential Vapour Injection and you do need a converter, although it is positive pressure, not negative pressure as used with the Impco mixers. The big difference with his system is that the injectors have identical electrical characteristics as the factory petrol injectors, so you dont need any additional electronics to drive the injectors. On most of the other SVI systems you need an additional LPG ECM that either runs alone or interfaces with the factory ECM. On most later model EFI cars, the ECM monitors injector current pulses and checks for ringing and other irregular pulse shapes and starts generating fault codes if everthing is not right.
The advantage of the LPG injection being sequential is that the gas is injected into the manifold right at the port only when that cylinder is on the intake stroke. This means there is no huge amount of gas in the intake manifold at any one time, no catastrophic backfires to blow the crap out of your air box. All the blokes that drive LPG V6 Commodores know about that.

Thanks for the info RoadNazi. I rang Purnell's (the first link). This refers to a complete dual fuel setup which will give me "marginally" better economy and "marginally" increased power to what i'm acheiving now. It is still dual fuel, but the gas is injected through a seperate set of injectors.

I have raised the gas tank on my gq. I will try to get some pics for you
blokes soon just got to work out how to get them on here. It might be difficult as my rear bar covers the spacer bracket i made up.

I have a 100l usable (120l tank) under the back where the petrol tank used to be.
The GQ runs great on straight LPG, as it is tuned for LPG, not a compromise like dual fuel I did not really notice a drop in power. I get between 4-5km/litre, which is not too bad at 55cpl for LPG.
I got in before the petrol prices soared. I bought my LPG setup off ebay cheap as chips, then got the GAS Man in Sydney to set it up.
I would never even think of driving this car on ULP at the current cost of fuel. But as it is now I spend about the same amount of $ on LPG as smaller cars are spending on ULP (maybe less !)

The only reason i was looking at injectors is 'cos their already there why not use 'em for something

but AFL's vary when the temps are difefrent, and even so at some servos you can sqeeeeeze 110 litres in a dead empty tank just before a long trip

Thanks for the GASMAN post They are quite thorough in the work they do there - no dodgy short cuts I was very impressed with their work

Do you know or can you find out whether i can run straight gas through my petrol injectors. Also i'm thinking about putting on a supercharger so how's the best setup in that case? hi all... GQbear its not possible to use your petrol injectors for gas if you want to go straight gas we will just unplug your injectors and fit a 225 impco mixer and an l convertor. If you plan to have twin tanks you could go a d90 (i think) under the back and a small tank in the boot not sure if you can get a tank under the side none of your petrol gear is of any uses. shorty40 i was there in june...oh and my ears were burning so i joinde sorry to hijack the thread.

I have a 93 Mav , LPG dual fuel, Carby.
To run a direct injected gas car, does it first have to be an EFI. If so what would you need to fit an aftermarket EFI system to my vehicle .
My distributor is a standard apart from a Pertronix hall effect conversion .
If the vehicle requires to be EFI, what device triggers the injection sequence?
Could your run two sets of injectors on an injected manifold one for petrol one for gas.

with the kits i have installed so far we install a piggy back gas computer witch just plugs in and picks up the vehicle info and uses that info to fire the injectors when its needed.If the vehicle requires to be EFI, what device triggers the injection sequence.
yes you can run petrol/gas injectors on the one manifold. with the rodeo i have to drill and tap the manifold and install small fittings that i can then attach the injectors. I have never seen nor heard of a gas injection system for a partrol or an after market one but the gas injection is still only very new and still alot of bugs to work out as i have to fix one tommorrow any how i hope this all helps.Could your run two sets of injectors on an injected manifold one for petrol one for gas.
Hi SLOGQ. yeah its BRC/IMPCO made in Italy. A while ago we did a f150 yank import with the 5.4 litre(i think) v8 injected with a vapour kit but we had alot of trouble with it as it never ran to well so we havent done one since. We did a AU falcon xr6 about a month ago with injection seems to go well with the kit thats on it not sure were the kit come from i think it was from Parnell.
