HILUX SHAFT EXTENSION

MY TOYOTA HAS A 2 INCH LEAF LIFT AND 2 INCH EXTENDED SHACKLES WITH RANCHO RS 9000. I THINK THERES TO MUCH TRAVEL COZ THE FRONT DIFF WILL DROP AND THE TAILSHAFT WILL COME APART AT THE SLIP JOINT. WILL THE 25MM SPACER BE OK? OR SHOULD I GET THE SHAFT LENGTHENED? KNOW ANY PRICES?

If only you were closer - $70 is what I charge to convert your current shaft into a square one

I use a special outside RHS which is hard to track down to minimise slop between the inner and outer RHS's

i used gibons drive shafts at newcastle it cost me $550 and it had to be lenghtened a fair bit i also got a new uni and used a different double cardin that i had hope this helps

Depends what you intend to do with the truck further down the track.When I first lifted my truck I put in a spacer,it worked fine until I put in longer leaves,moved the diff foreward & put in X-over steer,then I had to get the shaft lengthened...GIBSON DRIVESHAFT FK YOU AROUND

,I won't go into it but those FAWKERS couldn't organise a root in a brothel

.Found someone in Syd to lengthen it ($200 cheaper than GIBSONS),now this worked fine but whenever I went over a speedhump or the similar the shaft bottomed out......so I had a custom shaft made up now with a 300mm slip joint

works a treat,a box section one will work too but a bit sloppy.I'm on C/Coast too,PM me & I'll give you ppl to contact.

square shafts arent sloppy if you build them right

its not hard to do you just need to keep things straight, dont worry about trying to source trailer hitch square shaft you can make it out of the cheap stuff and make them tight. Just need to get some 0.9 sheet to shim up the inner shaft. Mine is tight as and doesnt start to vibe until 70k's, could probably go to 90 before it gets unbearable, but you wont be going 70k's in 4wd anyway...

hey bubs whats your turn around time for makin them? im goin to the cape on may 25 and round oz for 3 months so i need something thats not gonna shake.im stoppin at ballina for a week or so on may 15, so its no drama to bring it up to brissy. how much travell is in the joint too?

drop the shaft off, collect in 1hrs time or hang around

that week of the 15th will be ok with me.

like others have said the square shafts will start vibrating around 70-80kph

travel in the joint, the shaft will extend and collapse around 300mm depending on your setup.

I have one of Bubs shafts and it works a treat i havent felt it vibrate yet and I have probably been up to 60km/h or so offroad.
