how many different types (sizes) of vitara engine mounts are there?
i have a carby 1.6 1989 vit, the engine mount isnt that big. i got another from a 90 model vit, not the same, much bigger. about 15-20mm bigger.
so? can anyone help me out? mark from suzi worx says both left and right are the same, but shouldn't the mounts all be the same?
can i use one big one and one small one?
or can i just change to both big ones left and right? or will i need the brackets that come with the big ones? i have the small mounts atm.
who has a small one to swap for a big one?
thanks

I can't help you out with swapping an engine mount but can tell you that there was definately 2x different engine mounts in the Vitara. There was one mount that suited series 1 1.6 carby models (G16A 88-9/91) and then from there the series 2 carby (G16A 10/91-10/94) and all G16B models ran the other type of mount. I'm not quite sure on the different sizes to the different models but for both different types they are definately the same left to right. Probably not much in this to help you but I'd be inclined to use the same size for both sides.
Advise for Sierra owners is that the 1st series Vitara engine mounts fit Sierras and are much stronger than the Sierra mounts. I've ran these for years and never busted a mount.

the engine mount i got to replace the broken one was off a '90 model, or so i was told and so its written on the mount.
a '90 model should be in the series one category, but its not the smaller size ones.
can anyone help on the mounting brackets and hardware, or can you run the larger mounts on the original brackets (smaller ones).
should i just make my own RHS engine mount? with sierra spring bushes or something?

Ive got a busted mount in my 89 that im building up.
If the biger mounts will fit mine ill swop the good one that i have, but i need 2.
Are they thicker in hight, cos i put 2in body lift in and i want to lift my engine and gearbox abit to angle the engine up to get better rear shaft angle. What thickness are the bigger ones. Ill measure mine tomorrow.
