hi all,
i have been replacing the clutch in my LN65 hilux and think that i might have stuffed something up,with the engine running and can put the car into any gear without it stalling and without using the clutch, any suggestions as to what may be the problem??

just a quick not in case it makes any difference, the ute is on axle stands all round and the driveshafts arent connected, although i cant see it making any difference, also the clutch has not yet been bled and when i was bolting the slave cylinder back up the piston seemed to be a really tight fit and now it doesnt look as if it is sitting correctley, the rubber boot has a kink in it as if the piston in the slave cylinder is pushing way to heard,is this how it should be or is it not correct
Did you put another throwout bearing in? was it the right one. It could be a different hight which can cause all sorts of problems. It could be dissengaging the clutch before you even start moving the selector fork.
Another option, did you make sure the fork is on properly? was the pressure plate the same height as the old one? if it was higher this could cause the same problem as well. just a fiew options to think about.
Dave.

I'm with RUFF,the engine & gearbox will need 'load' to see if its done right or not.It would be like driving without using the clutch, just off revs.....the gears will mesh with only very little crunch.Bolt it all back together, drop it on the ground, now the vehicles entire weight is ready to be moved.Try & put it in gear without the clutch now,it shouldn't ( in theory)
