A mate found a crack in the fuel tank of his KLR650 i think it is, anyway apparently the tank is plastic (werd) just wondering if its repairable at all, i was thinkin of usin some of that stuff you pour into tank and swish around to create a new internal coating, same as they use to restore old fuel tanks from cars of years gone by with.
Any other ideas?

i have fixed these in the past using a soldering iron. just run it the full length of the crack. plastic welding people can fix this well. the tanks are made out of rotor moulded polyethelene and are porous to an extent as the plastic is never fully fused (the main reason why most stickers bubble and peel). you can buy filler rods to add additional plastic in various colours. the melt tepm of the plastic is in the low 200 degree c region thus try using a low temp iron or moving quickly as to not blacken the plastic

Your best off taking it to a plastic welder to do the job.
If you don't know what your doing you will more than likey stuff the tank beyond repair. Plastic fuel tanks are made out of a plastic that is really hard to weld and for the sake of $25 which is probably all they would charge its not worth the hassle.
