Radiator relocation
Just thinking about moving the radiator to the tray on my lux coz i think i wanna supercharge the motor soon and belt will be to wide to fit in the engine bay.
question being, how/what is the best method of fluid transfur to tray???
(must be cheap to coz im pov!)
i have Electric water pump already, but i mean like hose etc???
are people happy with this setup once complete?? is there anything i should look out for whilst doing this?
cheers,
Joe.

want in one hand, crap in the other..... see which one gets full first.
what motor are you running? if it is diesel put a turbo on, cheaper and easier, benefits just as good if not better than supercharging. if it's petrol. does it use a thermo fan or a clutch fan, if it,s a clutch setup remove it and place a thermo or two in front of the radiator. this would a lot cheaper than moving the radiator.
I JUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! today finished (haven`t even started it yet) putting a GQ radiator with the twin AU falcon fans on my tray. I had some 1.5 inch exhaust tube bent up and had to also use some hose bends as it was not possible to get the tube in in one long bent lenght. Hardest thing is getting around the steering box. Still have to mount an over flow bottle yet.
I`ll take some pics tomorrow and post em up.

I have my radiator in the tray of my lux. Running twin thermos and have it all housed in an aluminium box. Hard to explain. Used exahust tubing down the chassis rails for fluid transfer.
Will get some pics soon for you...

guts, do you still have the standard radiator in the front aswell, or just the one on the rear. Are you guys using an electric pump inline aswell as the standard water pump.

Was going to still run the standard rad in the front but deicided to remove it all together so I could fit a big power steering cooler easly.
I am only running it with the standard water pump in the 1UZ. Haven`t driven it yet to test it but have had it up to 95 deg to test the fans and set the thermo controller which I`ve set at approx 90deg.
For interest sack the 1UZ and standard desiel hilux radiator used to hold about 4.5lts. The new setup now holds about 12lts If this setup still gets hot doing the slow work I`ll just burn the POS.

i'm just running mine down the side of the chassis rails. I have an intercooler in the front where the original radiator was (got rice?). I am just running the standard 1ggte water pump for now, no extra inline pump.
I also removed the slow speed thermo fan (had twin fans, one high and one low speed), now just have two high speed fans.
Its hard to explain, but I have a grill on the base of my tray thats open to to the underside of the truck. Then I have the slanting radiator behind the cab which is enclosed in an aluminium case/box with the thermo fans and shroud all enclosed in the box. The top of the box is vented, like an old school letter box so its protected from the weather but still allows heat to escape.
Having the venting under the truck allows the air to move from up through the radiator to the natural low pressure zone behind the cab thats created. The thermos help pull the air up through the radiator. Has worked well in testing and running the truck at temperature...
