HELP What is the CORRECT fill Capity of front diff rear diff
Sorry to bother you I am about to change diff oils and cant get a straight answer from any where on how much to fill Castrol has it as front diff 1.5 ltrs
rear 1.3ltrs....But the Haynes Manual has it Front 2 liters(yes thats how they spelt it) Rear 1.5 Liters.
What is correct????????

Amount will change with any modifications, like diff welding, as you fill some area.
If you have a spring lift, angles of the pinion means it is essential to have them full, or pinion bearing can run dry.
I don't think a little overfill would hurt, but underfill can.
I know I haven't really answered the question, but most just fill till it reaches the level of the fill hole (mine front is stuck on, so I just put 1.5 litres in thru my diff breather. My rear fills easily with 1.0 litres but my diff has a lot of weld in it.

christover1 thanks for the reply my mate stripped the top fill and is welding a nut to remove to fill diff but will ring him and advise him to fill via breather excellent suggestion....
As for how much to fill will put in oil till it gets to near fill was being tight assed as I only bought enough for castrol recomendation but will get extra if needed.... The one I am most concered about is the transfer case as she has a drop of oil from rear seal always and being .8 litre fill you can image there may be not much left... Anyway I am going to try and remove the oil plugs and give it a go.

all the info I looked up states fill to lower level of filler plugs transfer case and front and rear diffs

just finished two zooks all that failed to open was my gearbox...So when its on the hoist will weld a nut on it to remove them.
All the rest roonor (my mate) applied heat via a little blow torch used for cake decoing (butane)....and thay came off no worries....
As for the fill capacities the closest was Castrol recommended fills
front diff 1.5 litres, rear diff 1.3 ,transfer .8 litres , and gear box 1.3 litres,
BUT USE YOUR DISCRESION AND PUT YOUR PINKIE IN THE HOLE you will then get a fair idea where your at....
The gear box is a bugger to fill heres how Ron did it use garden hose and start in the engine bay area pass it down too the gear box poke a little of the end of the garden hose in the gear box..at the top end use a VXM80 type oil bottle fit hose to the end upside down gravity will do the rest to assist in the speed of the fill poke a small hole in the VXM80 bottle. Air flows thru assists the oil to flow faster to the gearbox.... Warning NO Beer was consumed during this operation... But I am having a few now

I bought a little screw-on hand pump that attaches to the oil bottle from the local parts store for less than $20.
It's just like the pump on the hand soap in the bathroom, but with a filler hose and a barbed tip on it. The barbed tip is the killer app, coz you can just poke it in the hole and the 2 barbs hold it in there for you, making the whole operation so much easier.
I've used the pump about a dozen times this year, so it was well worth it in my books.

munga great idea but we live in mexico you should know we dont get hot weather this time of the year....mind you having said that its not rained in 8 years here (well not to flood conditions)
And yes left the oils in the open area to heat a little up and did ok

My rear diff pinion is pointed up a few degrees(spoa) so when i fill my rear diff, i park the car pointing slightly down hill, makes it easier to get a bit more fluid into the diff.
