Don't know but prob not. The 2wd run a independent suspension system as opposed to the solid axle in the 4wd.

later ones might be rack and pinion?

I think earlier ones might be able to be used.

On a US website I saw a guy convert his 2WD to 4WD and claimed he got an increase in pump pressure cause the 2WD runs more pressure from standard!

The box is different but the pumps and lines are the same. The 2wd box has 2 bolts on the side of the frame and one comming down from the top. The IFS box only has 3 on the side and the solid axle box has 4 bolts going straight down which mount the box to a bracket which then bolts onto the side of the frame with 2 bolts and has 2 bolts going straight down on the top of the frame.
No hilux has Rack And Pinion.

For a Zook conversion you are better off using a cressida/celica/supra box as they have the pitman arm facing farward like the zook box rather than backward like the hilux boxes.

Ruff,

Mate does the supra/cressida steering box work on the lux?
Cause I was thinking of buying an old Celica/Supra (5M-GE) and get the
power steer off it as well as the ricer seats and motor!!

I thought that they used a rack and pinion?

It would save me heaps to get it all in one!!

:? Im pretty sure the early Celica's had a steering box. Bat i know for sure the cressida runs a steering box because i have one in the garage.

You cant use the Box as they mount on the inside of the rail not the outside. And with a 22R i know there is not enough room. There may be with a deisel but im not sure.
Also the sector shaft in these are not as large as the Hilux ones so i wouldnt use it on a hilux.

i have a solid axle power steer box - needs rebuild - $100

if you want cross over you can use a welded double arm - on my crossover steering thread you can see where my bro bought the chaos double arm - we hope to install it in about 4 weeks time

using 60 series pump and resivour
ifs box
chaos double arm
core 30mm drag link
surf automatic transmission cooler as the power steer cooler
and get enzed or someone to plumb the lines

I would take the solid steer box, but I want to
drop the hangers and extend shackles so I will probably
need crossover before too long, so I'd best hold
off until I can find an IFS box somewhere.

Was the 60S pump cheap? Does it all work together?

havn't got it yet - but the pump mounts to the drivers side of the motor - and this works with what we want because my old hilux doesn't have air con and we are mounting it where the air con would normally go

what motor do you have?

the first price i got on the pump was 165

I've got a 22R with no A/C.
Could I use the 60S pump with the IFS hilux pwr steer box??

$165 is a good price, I have been quoted 3 times that from
some wreckers for a lux pwr-steer pump.
Are they stronger than the hilux power steering pump??

Cheers,
Bart

not sure wether it is stronger - just that i know a guy who is running the 60 pump on a 2L diesel so it makes it easier if someone has already done it

Has he had any problems with his setup?
I presume he's using the hilux box still??

P.S. Have you made those snake style crossies yet?
