just been through the same problem myself. replacing a mates starter motor, as the starter clutch was slipping
rang all my local contacts both new & second hand even tryed reco but no go.
nobody makes spares for them except for genuine suziki
$160.00 for the clutch new & $600.00 for a complete starter motor

also if you find a second hand unit it maybe in the same or worse condition as your item.

in the long run id be looking at upgrading to 1.3 running gear
most parts still available new & second hand

thats my 2cents

good luck
cheers daryl

hi Daryl thanx for that. it turns out that the genuine starters use mitsibishi solenoids etc and are quite easy to adapt. i rebuilt this starter using a good 2nd hand starter off a l300 mitsibishi. works well now. i enquired around for a new one etc and was qouted a lot less than you i can tell you that much.. cheers

toyota corolla 3k starter fits an 800cc stockman engine - did it many years ago, and kicks the motor twice as fast.
I would assume that the engines should take the same starter.
toyota corolla starters should be easy and cheap to source
