being so close to Melb there has to be some mexicans that can tell us some info and pics .......................pleeeeease ;)
Was a good day.
only 4-5 buggys. But there has been some good drives and a number of rollovers.
Stage 1
Rob (purple) - broke a cv
Mock (rodent)- Put it on its side and fill the top end up with oil.
Cal - also lent it up against the rocks, dont think theybroke just jammed it against a rock while being pretty much on there side.
Pete / Tazz - Drove well used the rear steer nicly. One thing I thought may have saved some points was the U-turn ontop of the rock. I think it would have been possible to back down the rock. Thus only on reverse and it would have put them straightin the finish box. But they did brake a front shock mount. But where able to remove it and finsih the course.
Nam - missed the stage (may have done it at teh end of the day though - due to tech problems)

Stage 2
This had a huge bonus line but due to the wetness no one had ago.
Nam - got the buggy going. And had the best roll over of the day. Did a complete loop, and went through the gate without hitting any cones. But pointed out. But did some great driving, for haveing the largest buggy there.
Mock - Made it half way and just lacked abit of wheel speed I think. Think they pointed out.
Rob - cant remmember, think he drove the whole stage, but did take a couple of cones.
Pete - After welding the shock tab back on. Went onto Drive the whole stage

Stage 3
Rob - first car thru. Had a near rollover, and also nearly put it off a 8m drop (that would have tested the cage). But was able to drive out of it and just pull up in time. timed or pointed out.
Mock - Did a full loop, mmm cant remember.
Cal. Drove the fast half well. But mess around with doing front digs abit to much in the 2nd half.
Pete - There was a loop bonus line(drop off). Pete choose to back down which worked out well as they then had to drive back up. So was pointing hte in the right direction. Was also hte only team to make the finish line.
Nam - Well Nam I think the GQ buggy is just abit to heavy. Didnt make it past the obstacle.

Stage 4
Was a hard stage the first 3 buggys broke on the first obstacle.

Rob - was first. timed out getting beached on the first rocks
Mock - Put the hard yards in for sure and really put on a good show. Once the tyres got grip it launched itself towards the bonus line. Nearly verticle. It then landed hard on the front left, and broke a cv. Also broke a rear upper controll arm. Was ashame as the Rodent was working very well.
Pete- with the portals cleared the first section no worrys. Tried to get a line for the bonus, but the front wouldnt come around. so drove hte normal section. Dont think there where to many penaltys.
Cal - Also drove the stage
Nam - sturggled to get the tyres to bite in. And with the rim damage from the roll over. Didnt make it over the first section.

So abotu the crap details. Memory aint real flash.
One thing I did notice throughtout the day. People seemed to be stuffing around with trying to do front digs on a service that wouldnt allow it (off-camber wet grass). This casused alot of reverseing penaltys.
Teams also need to look a couple of obstacles ahead.

Just downloading the pics. So I will resize some and post.
I also got most of robs near roll over on vid.

If you're in Melbourne and you haven't seen rock crawling live before you have got to get there. These guys must have testicals as big as elephants.
All the action is in one area and is just a short walk from the car park.
With the small number of buggies they are running one stage at a time. Not a problem though cause the crowd was severly underrepresented and everyone could see the action easily. Approx 80 cars in the carpark, so perhaps up to 200 people. Highlands primary school doing catering. And to think they have just 25 pupils. Top prices too. :)
Rob's near forward roll over on stage 3 was insane. He's near vertical and plants the gas and keeps it straight... sent some spectators running though and as said he got on the brakes just before a HUGE drop off.
Nam did a spectacular side roll on stage 2 and landed on his wheels to keep going. Severly bent a wheel rim though which was then rubbing on the brake caliper and probably stopped him from finishing.

Pete & Tazz are clearly showing their experience and using the rear steer well. It's amazing where these guys can go.

This was my first buggy experience so others may disagree...
The courses were fairly tight although the guys did get some reasonable room to turn around on the grass. The change in surfaces did mix things up a bit, but with the small number of vehicles it generally didn't take much to warm the tyres and remove the crap from the rock.

Pete's truck was orsum and climbed better than the others - so yes I guess the tyres worked extremely well.

Didn't get final results for sure but Pete didn't break and drove VERY well as usual so I'm guessing he took the cup by a nose ... ;)

Nam stood the beast on it's nose for what seemed like about 5 seconds and then drove out of it!!! Top effort  ... he then rolled it again later. :)

Mock did a back flip, end over end roll onto his lid in the rocks. Mick and Rodent live to fight another day.
Top drive from Mick on Stage 2 of the day to complete it within about 15 seconds of DNF after spending nearly 5 mins trying start the Rodent on the rocks with starter trouble.

Rob and Nam blew a couple of CVs.

Cal was hot on Pete's heels all day, no breakages.

All good drives from everyone, VERY FARKEN COLD AND WET!!!
