how much lift with standard shocks
hi people
i am going to lift my 60 series cruiser in the next couple weeks and im just wondering how much i can lift it without replacing my shocks
i have koni adjustables all round which i love and want to keep
i am fitting a 2" body lift, 3" shackle lift and 2" springs and 35" tyres
will the shocks be ok or should i make some custom mounts to make them reach, im not after articulation just ground clearance if that makes any difference

Check the part number on the shocks. If they have SP1 after the part number it means they have been spaced for standard ride height.
The good news is that you can get the spacers removed. From memory I think it's about $40.00 a shock and they service them at the same time.

Have you ever wondered how you get triangles from a cow? You need butter, milk & cheese and an equilateral chainsaw!

Just curious how you plan to lift the vehicle 3 inches by longer shackles. That would mean lengthening the shackles F+R by 6 INCHS.vorno_18 wrote:hi people

Due to the axle being approx in the middle of the spring, then lifting one end 3 inches will = 1.5 inch lift. Last time i made a set of shackles for a 60, we went with 2 inch llonger, for 1 inch lift (approx) even then with 33 inch tyres the longer shackles at the front of the spring used to catch stuff. If they are not cross braced, the front end will wander too. 3 inch is pretty big extension, it will also effect the front end caster too, making it more like a shopping trolley.

a mate of mine had 2" Body and 2" spring cleared 35's, although they used to lightly rub against the inner part of the rear guard until he bought new wheels with a slightly different offset.
Where can u buy extended shackles? are they illegal in qld? wouldnt mind a set of 2" extended shackles myself

If you do 2" spring & 2" [ 1"] shackles the shocks will be way to short.vorno_18 wrote:hi people

ok thanks how hard is it to lower the shock mounts
was thinking of welding some brackets lower down on the rear and maybe cutting and lowering the mounts on the front
will this be to much effort or is it worth buying some new shcoksi didnt want to as the konis are awsome and i havnt had them very long

I dont get that? doesnt more spring lift mean more articulation and travel, generally speaking??bad_religion_au wrote:spring and shackle length won't mean squat when it comes to your bigger rubber when it's flexed up... when your at maximum stuff, your tire is in the same place, no matter how much spring lift you put on it
