Central Locking

Post by familytruck »

Hi,

Just purchased a 3L DX 2000 Patrol, after finding a previous owner had cut the central locking wire for the rear door and reconneting it......it now works on the back door.

From the drivers side all 5 doors can now be locked or unlocked,

But from the passanger side door it only unlocks that door. Is this normal operation.

I have two other cars (Camry Wagon and Pulsar Sedan), central locking on these locks and unlocks all doors from the pasanger side

Correct, only the drivers door will unlock all of them. On models without keyless entry from memory there is no actuator in the drivers door either so you will need to fit one if you convert it to keyless.

Hi, Thanks to this forum , i worked out why my gq driver door wasnt locking when i installed the alarm , I had to fit an actuator to the drivers door which was simple and i found the wiring in the left hand side under the glovebox which holds the timer for the central locking ,the two wires which control the motors on the other doors are orange and pink and are a lot closer and easier to run than going from the doors, works excellent and it even fixed my passenger side central locking which either didnt close or didnt open all the way

thanks again guys for posting

regards chris

WAS parked in the Mitchel river when the controler for the central locking got wet.All four locks operated untill they melted and locked the doors. This made it hard to let the water out .So now I have an isolation switch I use if it loks like I may want to stop in deap water for a rest.
Cheers.....Vic

Off topic but a good tip.
