What an excellent weekend!!! Sure the weather wasn’t the best, but hey, it beats stacking rocks in the heat.
A big thanks to the event sponsors, organizers, officials and property owners. Without you guys we’d be driving around Macca’s car parks. A very well run event, especially so when the weather was taken into account. As soon as it started to rain a marquis was set up to keep people dry.
The sausages certainly hit the spot as did the coffee, so a big thanks to the school as well.
Most of all I’d really like to thank Cheezy for making the idea of Rockcrawling in Vic a reality.
Beyond that it was an fantastic weekend. The rodent while still in R&D stages (read, it’s the first time its been on rock) performed surprisingly well, we just needed to work out what it will and won’t do (might need some more time to work that out). A few minor changes to be made but we’ll be there next round with more seat time and a few tweaks.
Oh yeah, Moose. You almost had us, but in the end you didn't
Got to give it to you though, getting Rob to back off on the skinny pedal did work pretty well.

This is SO true. We nearly didn`t use the saturday stage 4 because of the spectator viewing areas or should I say lack of. But in the end we decided its all about give and take.grimbo wrote:It must be a hard job to balance the needs of the spectators whilst maintaining quality stages.
We also changed 2 of Sundays stages because of viewing and the bloody wheather
Funniest thing all weekend was on Sunday morning at 6am watching my tent (from the inside) flatten and then stand back up again over and over and over as the wind came up and down
For anybody that is interested in what the prices were, it was cash and every compeditor got to run for free with a $0.00 entry fee.
As for round 3 cousres , we will be trying to make them as hard but less tight to make the guy/s with rear steer really think about using up their 5 points or not.
Guys, that was a fantastic weekend. I had heaps of fun even stacking rocks. Love the Cold weather haha.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen. First time i've been to an event and will definitely be back for more punishment.
About the spectator viewing, a mate who came up to watch was complaining a little about stage 4 saturday. But over all he loved it and his kids enjoyed it as well. Well done again.
Also less tight course will be good for us here @ team NAM. we can't do tight turns. Any help would be much appreciated.
cheers

The property owners, They let us stay in the house drive over there property digging up everything, use there tractor and still come up smiling and giving.

You people also rock. Without you people OZ ROCK wouldnt happen, you all just keep coming back for more (rain hail or storm) Also some are competitors, you all know who you are.

Competitors.
I have to thank you all again as you all support us time and again to help the sport get up and grow. You all voted to get out there and drive on Sunday after the worst night ever. We got over 35mm of rain over 100km/h winds and the temp was below 2 degrees during the night. I was almost ready to give up but you all kept it going.
Also thanks Pete Antinac for the use of your tent just in time B4 the hail hit.
Nam the showman. If you get yourself a full on Buggy you are gunna be hard to beat.
Rob + Moose. That was the best I have ever seen you drive (almost controlled) Credit where credit is due, keep it up. (Rob thanks for listening to me to a tee).
Mick and James. With a bit more seat time you will be able to keep it on its wheels. NA well done for your first time in a new buggy in your second rock event.
Call+Maurice. You guys are the coolest team out there. Nothings ever a problem and always giving it a red hot go. With a bit more seat time in the new rig you will be the hardest team to beat.
Pete and Tass.
What can I say. You guys are the masters making things look EZ. I have no doubt that you will blits WE Rock and kick ass in the US. I hope that OZ Rock can give you some insite and training on hardcore rock to help you on your way.
BTW Pete, it was good to talk to and see your Mom and Dad there in the crowd
You all got free entry as that is my small thanks to you all for support of OZ Rock, so again thank you all.

Awesome stuff on the weekend for sure. Great driving by all competitors & spotters. I didn't enjoy the rain, wind & hail though BUT I was impressed with the spectators putting up with the wheather and still smiling & cheering at the buggies doing there thing ....... I miss the Jeeps mixing it with the buggies too.
We need to get the interstaters to come play on our rocks too as it would really be great to get the competition closer together (that said it will take a huge effort to knock Pete & Taz of the pointy end), I can't wait to see more buggies finished and entered.
Highlights were happening on a regular basis through out the weekend and we will have to wait for the DVD to come out (were's the first 2 events DVD's? ) AND getting warm by a radiator heater & being fed bacon & eggs by Mrs Cheezy & her mum .
Also well done to Guts (Dave) for super speedy recoveries through out the event, Guts & Cheezy are responsable for track design & recovery points. I think most of the time when there was a mishap he was right at the vehicle before I could yell out to start the recovery .

Heat, what is that it was 2 deg most of the weekend but they still stuck to the rock.
If you want to know how they worked ask Pete A as he was the only one using the comp spec Maxxis, Mock was using the 37 standard ones.

Camry power
Loved every minute of it (well the hail was a bit rough...). Well done everyone!
p.s. Mock, what was with the no beadlocks? I thought they were just about mandantory!
