GQ oil light on - Help

Post by SLVRMAV »

Has anyone else had this problem where the presure guage is normal, oil level good, ryco filters, penrite 20/60 diesel oil 2000k,s old. BUT OIL LIGHT IS ON. A couple hour after a play in the mud under normal driving conditions I noticed the light come on.

Can anyone shed some light on this problem. 145000k's on the clock. Is this happened to anyone else????

Possibly the Oil sender has shit itself
not unusual for this to happen!
do you have pressure guage and light combo?
When mine died the light came on and the pressure reading went way high :?: I was travelling with a mechanic who said it all sounds normal, so it was ok to keep driving! as I was on Moreton Island heading to catch the barge home!
got a new one asap and all good

The older ones do that when the oil pressure sender get wet. Usually takes a fair while for it to dry out and the dash light to go out. Alternatively, new ones fron Nissan are about $150 and they have a breather on the sender to prevent this problem.

My light stayed on for quite a while and I thought the gauge was still working. Till one day I did an oil change and had a problem with the oil filter seal which inturn caused the motor to spray oil out continually, my wife was driving the car at the time and the gauge did not move once of the mid point only to have the motor seize from lack of oil.
Solution one new motor with mechanicle gauge and the biggest low pressure warning light I could find.
Watch out for the Bushpig we maybe out your way soon
