I Need Head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by hairy one »

Hey guys.
A newbie to this site. So far it's been an excelent source of info for both mechanical & Off Roading.

Can any on tell me if the 2.5 & 2.8 TD heads are interchangable. I'm presuming that the 2.8 has larger ports / valves.

I would presume that if it is, then possibly the 3.2 head is also interchangable or has that gone to far with the 4 valves.

If this can be swapped will this increase performance. ( torque & criusing speed.)

Thirdly the 2.5 Head has 19 mm injectors & 21mm injectors.

Will this make a difference to performance if the smaller diametre injector head is used. I need to change injectors right now any way .???

Just keeping my options open.

Thanks up front for any help.

Two different engine families, so I severely doubt it.

2.5 is 4D56, 2.8 is 4M40, 3.2 is 4M41. (From memory...)

correct.
the 4m40 is similar enough to the 4m41 i think. i have heard of people putting the DID head on the 4m40 block.

the 4d56 LOOKS totaly different but i dont know for certain if it will fit.

Thanks guys.

Is it safe to assume that reworking the head in the same way as a petrol head will acheive performance increases.
