i want to put an intercooler on my fourtrak i work in a car dismantletrs so have got a wide range of sizes to choose from can anyone help :?

Just put anyone that will fit :armsup:

I'd find one that looks fairly efficient, as long as you don't go overboard it wont be too big.

if you can find a w2a intercooler set-up (i think you guy's call them charge cooler?) they are the best set-up for a 4wd.
not only are they very effient, they allow for tight mounting positions and shortest route for the pipeing.
a little more mucking around to get it set-up at 1st, but worth it. :)

this is the st165 celica w2a intercooler set-up i am putting on my feroza. consists of a core that the charge air from the turbo passes through, inside that core is another core that has water passing through it which is pumped by an electric water pump through it's own seperate radiator.
the heat from the charge air is dissipated into the water as it passes though the center core, this heat thats now in the water pumps through the front mounted radiator which cools the water again, just keeps cyleling like that. (i'm not too good with definitions, hope all that makes sense?).

my intercooler was fitted in front of the airbox

the piping was resting on the radiator and melted a nice hole...so i took it off...

the intercooler is still in good nick if someone wants to buy it....:D :D

the w2a core is mounted just to the exhaust side of the cam cover length ways (there was a couple other places available, but i like to have the shortest possible pipeing).. the heat exchanger will be mounted in behind the bumper getting its air flow through the hole where the numbr plate is mounted, if need be i'll duct some more air flow to it, the pump will be down there too. heres a pic i took yesterday or the core where it will be located, havnt put todays dismal effort onto the computer from my camera.

ive just got home from work with an intercooler and a load of radiator hosing its 10 inch long by 6 inch high2an a half deep do you reckon its big enough :? you wouldnt know whether a frontera front leaf spring will fit :? did you do the conversion on your beast

Do you know how much boost the Celica intercooler is good for? Looks really neat how you've done it... can't wait to see it running :lol:

Will the heat from the motor affect cooling? Probably is offset by not using longer piping hey??

i'm not sure what the st165 core is good for HP wise, plenty more than i will be wanting from the feroza that's for sure. i know the larger st205 core that i have in my mr2 is good for 400-600hp from what i've seen/read on the net.

being that the water is constantly passed through the core and cooled via the front mount heat exchanger there isnt much heat at all thats generated from the manifold/engine effecting the core. i will be however making a heat sheild for the manifold to help the charge air cooling even more. after a good 30 min drive in it this arvo 'easing' some boost into it (only 3-4 psi at the moment) the core still felt rather cool to the touch even though the outlet pipe from the turbo was hot.

not sure if you asking me? the measurements you give isnt a massive core by anymeans being a a2a intercooler, but depending on how much boost you intend to run and if you have one at all at the moment? it will deffinatly better than nothing. the original a2a core on the mr2 is only approx 10x10x2" and they can handle 14psi reasonably (though not the best) and dont get as good a air flow as a front mounted core will.

wouldnt know about the front spring.

am doing the turbo conversion myself as i did with the mr2. (there are some pics in my siggy, just havnt updated the site in a while).
