engineering my zuk?

Post by mr green »

can someone explain to me the broad contrast of vehicles that i see that have been engineered, ive see everything from full hydro susp/steer to some piece of pooka that looks like it has been fassioned up in the garden shed all bragging FULLY ENGINEERED. so i am thinking i will only have to give an engineer o phone call and he'll post me one in the mail. :D (wellnot realy) ;) i have a 91 swb soft top , ute conversion, sub tank, coil rear, sprung over front, little 31''s and a gti eng. all welding was done by a professional & i'm a quallified mechanic so it is strong and reliable.
but when it was my turn ta talk to an engineer , my little 31''s on 8''s were too big suspension needs to be x-rayed and it cant be more than 50mm taller than standard :x :2gunfire: 50mm,50mm, iwouldn't be talking to engineer if it was less than 50mm
does any one have any help or similar experiences?
or if you have a decent engineer and you dont want to tell the world you can pm me, ;)
any help appreciated, jase

There is an engineer in Dubbo who was very helpful to me over the phone when I did my GTi conversion on my last ute, so PM me if you want some details.
Cheers,
Andrew

thanks vineboy, have talked to him briefly but i think it might be a bit more moded than what he wants. didn't say he wouldn't do it but i just can't imagine everybody dismantling thier truck to have stress tests and x-rays.

The best way to get things engineered is to speak to the engineer before you start anything. have your plans worked out and work with him to get what you both want. Trying to get anything retro approved is going to be very hard. Doesn't matter if you say you are a good welder/mechanic etc they need things done their way to ensure they will aprove it.

As you mentioned many things get approved but I reckon you'll find they havve gone through the appropriate procedures to get them done.
