40 Suspension Q

[Orange 47 ute]

A while ago i fitted new suspension to my hj47ute. It has 2in lifted springs and 2in extended shackels.Anyway i noticed shortly after fitting it that my castor is out. Should i fit castor wedges or re-weld my spring perches at a different angle. As my car is close to being on the road i would like rectify this soon. Also i have a spare gearbox with a double uni joint on the front tailshaft, should i fit this tailshaft. Any help would be appreciated

Castor wedges are the way to go, Quick easy, cheap and no structual changes to you vechile. i have never had any probs with them.

you need to get a wheel alignment first ,and go from there
but wedges are easyer than modifying your perches

Sounds like castor wedges are the way to go. The only thing that pisses me off is that the guy who sold me the susspension didn't advise about this. He even gave me the wrong shocks 4 this package. Im not going to mention names but he operates out of his backyard shed in queensland and advertises in major 4wd publications. I see that he now advertises the same kit 4 40's with extended brake lines and castor wedges. I as a 4wd novice at the time wish i had the same information

if its who i think you are referring to they do castor wedges too as do most suspension places.. you can also get them from Fulcrum suspension @ stafford and pick up 2deg (i think, the smallest) for $65/pair. This should sort out your issues. If its still bad i would then go get a wheel alignement (do it anyway to be sure).
