94 4Runner diffs
Gidday guys,
We have a 94 4runner here with larginsh rubber, Now its a slug already but the 33" rubber makes it a bit of a pig uphills.
A couple of questions, What is the standard ratio's?
Next what is available ratio wise so we can match the IFS diff to the rear?
What diff centres are compatible with the rear diff in the runner
Anyone got a set of better ratios? I am guessing they may be 4.3's so i may need 4.6's ?
Thanks in advance,
JEs

Search is your friend - try Hilux & Ratio. Lots of ratios available for the rear...but you'll need to match it for the front as well ( unless you're driving a pre-runner )

It would be good if you told us what engine you have in your 4runner
22R 4 cylinder petrol has 4.875 ratio
3L 4 cylinder diesel has 4.3 ratio
1VZ V6 petrol manual can have either 4.3 or 4.556 ratio [ 4.556 rare ]
On the 5th line down on the factory build plate you will have 2 lots of numbers , The first batch is the gearbox code the second will tell you what diff you have

The original tyre on the 4runner is a 205x16 and 4.3 ratio diffs, the 205x16 has the same rolling diameter of a 9RX15 so if you have fitted 33" tyres you would want to fit 4.875 diffs to try and keep the engine with in its torque band
