I dont know whether that is true or not. Not many differences between the G13B and BA. My cars done 150,000kms so far with 2 p plater drivers, and me giving it a hard time and still pulls strongly, no smoke whatsoever.christover1 wrote:Apparently coily engines have a bad reputation for failure, anyway.CHOPS1 wrote:damn, thought i had found a donor engine!

But I don't know if this is deserved.

when starts showing signs of death, im planning to buy a jimny engine (if i can find one, and mate a SC12 supercharger to it, run it off a afc (if it needs it) and drop it in (with a little adaption).
All fun, all needs money.

coily engines arnt any different when it comes to smoking pulling etc, the problem with them is a dodgy batch of pistons. some may last for ever but from what I have seen the majority of coilers will have piston failure (the skirt breaks away) before 200,000kmsHotAe92 wrote:I dont know whether that is true or not. yes the sj80s did have a bad batch of pistons.
they did as sam said come with single point injection as a factory option, but not too many purchased it as it was very expensive.

number 4 piston the skirt broke and the oil ring ended up in the sump
and at that stage it hadnt really had a hard time

My local Zook wrecker (suziworld in Melbourne) seems to wreck more Jimnys than Sierras lately, so I'm guessing Jimny parts will get more common and cheaper in the future.HotAe92 wrote:yer im going to keep my eye out soon as ive got a bit more dosh in the bank, jimny engines are rare and expensive, but will be worth it in the long run. piss this carby s.h.i.t.

Thats good to know, i hope the same is happening here in the west. Does anyone know which side the jimny's air intake sits on. I.e. is it the same side as the carby sierras (drivers side) or does in intake from the passenger side. im thinking its the drivers side.christover1 wrote:My local Zook wrecker (suziworld in Melbourne) seems to wreck more Jimnys than Sierras lately, so I'm guessing Jimny parts will get more common and cheaper in the future.HotAe92 wrote:yer im going to keep my eye out soon as ive got a bit more dosh in the bank, jimny engines are rare and expensive, but will be worth it in the long run. piss this carby s.h.i.t.

no no the efi motor available in australia was just single point injection and was still classed as the g13ba.97zook wrote:EFI was an option in 97/98 models. i wasent aware about the piston issue, but as jayden said. the motors still go hard (in relation :p)
i know nothing about the EFI motor... i have a feeling it was the same motor as the jimny, but hey! just a guess :p
the jimny ones are multipoint injected and are g13bb's and the newer one is the m13a
