Just done Spring Lift

I just put some pedders raised springs in my NH swb, andthey were supposed to give 50mm of lift (which i think they did). When i cranked the torsion bars up to match the back I noticed that they are nowhere near the from upper bumpstops, and alot fo you have talked about trimming these bump stops so the car doesn't ride on them. Is there something wrong here?

Canada! I'm impressed! How do you know this?

Yes, there are both upper and lower bumpstops in the Paj front end.

The upper bump-stops limit droop travel, the lower stop limits bump travel. Your use of "bumpstops" (plural) suggests you're looking at the correct ones.

So. Pics would help - if posting pics has been fixed. Or you could try something like photobucket and link.

What do your bumpstops look like? If they're stock they'll have a nice rounded shape and be about 1 inch tall. If they've been trimmed, they'll have a flat top, and be shorter. Are they stock or trimmed?

Oh just wen't out and had a look. Yeah they are riding on the front upper bumpstops, no wonder i could feel every bump *pulls out hacksaw*

Just a quick question, did you purchase swb or lwb springs? Can you also add a side on pic so we can see how she sits. Cheers.

yeh its interesting trying to get springs to suit the rear end for the shorty and i dont actually have to purchase new springs, so far iv tried

- standard rear swb springs
- standard lwb springs (gave 2" lift, then sagged to about 1"):?
- standard progressive rate swb Patrol springs (gave about 3" lift over the sagged lwb paj springs, total of 4" lift, too high, vibes galore)
- then put back in the lwb paj springs that have sagged
- and at the moment iv got a set of lwb paj Pedders heavy duty springs (gave about 1.5" lift over standard but will be better for when i go away, s keeping them in for now)

i would simply like about another 1" of lift in the rear, so maybe some coil spacers/packers are in order, i dunno, but the heavy duty lwb paj springs still flex nicely

just thoguht id shed some light ont he subject gettin real good at changing springs now

I just got the swb heavy duty raised springs. Apparently they were suposed to give 2" of lift, i think it was a little bit under that. The springs were actually shorter than the original ones but they are heaps thicker and don't compress so easily. I'll take a side pic for you, but to be honest I was't happy with the height I got, it still looks like standard height to me, so I wil be looking at a body lift. However, with how far the torsion bars are cranked and how cose they sit to the upper bumpstops more height with springs aint really a good idea.

I just cut the bump stops, so it rides heaps better now.

sounds like the exact same springs that i just put in the paj. apparently these were meant to give 2" of lift, but like i said its more like 1.5" and to me, doesnt really look lifted at all. but theyll stay in there for the fact theyre hd and wont sag like the lwb paj srpings did i had in there. they still flex heaps even thoguh theyre hd, im really impressed with them actually, been flexin it heaps lately

I put 2" springs in my LWB that i bought off the net but wasn't all that happy with the lift. I then put the 1" spacers i had in as well and am stoked with the finished product. Sits up nice and high and the rear is only slightly higher than the front! I think deffinately the 3" is the way to go!
