Who needs power steering?

Post by Pat Murray »

I have been recently getting the bits together to put power steering in my NT. I run Mongrels, Lock Rights front and rear and a 5.12 transfer and it had ceased to be funny. My Mongrels were well down at the front and I was sick of waiting for more to arrive in Tassie. So I bit the bullet and bought a set of 31" Silverstone MT117 Sports. Talk about chalk and cheese!! These tyres have put a huge smile on my dial. I can now hear my motor, they are responsive on all surfaces, they have 85-90% of the mud ability of the Mongrels and also pull well out of deep ruts. The profile is more rounded than the Mongrels and I can only assume that this is what takes the strain out of the steering.....and if it is easier to steer then it must be easier on all the components as well. Anyway, at $780.00 fitted for a set of four, I'm happy.

Ah nice, my friend had some on his hilux in 33's. (Rolled it about 2 weeks later lol)

I guess not being a retread makes them a bit smoother. The solid line down the middle is different though...
