GQ DISY CAPS, 3ltr / 4.2ltr petrol same or not

Post by bucketofbolts »

just had some trouble with my patrol, (90 model GQ) i have changed my cap, rotor, points and coil, (turned out to be the coil and points where stuft) nissan tell there the same, repco tell me there different and altra tune don't know, (which is a bit of a worry), might save a few people some dollars, 3ltr nissan/vl commodore stuff is straight over the counter, where nissan stuff has to be ordered in most of the time and 3 times as much,

Bogged,

Its not about being scared, Its about acting like a basic human. If you have the unbeleiveable stupidity to stick your finger up to someone you dont know in the street or in a room, then do it online. If you have half a brain, then you would not do it in person, or online. In any case keep your emicons to your communications with your sugar dady's ok.

According to Repco there is 2 different kind of dizzy cap.

I went there and got given the wrong one and when taking it back realized that the caps are the same but the screws going through the cap that dont seem to come out are different lengths.

Apparently some of the dizzys have a spacer and some dont?

On my TB42, Ive used the ECHLIN (ep810) brand and that needed longer screws but it worked. Not sure if thats the same as the 3 litre cap. :?

I think the contacts are a bit small in comparison to the nissan OE cap.

Ill have to give that a try next time....

So there are two different types of VL caps? and you need the one to suit a spacer......

or the spacer you are referring to is the standard TB42 one, so the VL cap will suit TB42, but not TB42E's.

hmmm
