I have asked this question of of the G/Year rep monthly for about 18 mnths. and the answer has always been "we're not sure if they'll sell", yet they bring in the 37". I know we sell plenty of 305/70R16 radial Claws, but I've NEVER sold a 37" radial anything. But I'm just a Dealer, I don't know anything.

im pretty sure the metric mesaurments are 285 diameter ot height, not sure, but the 75 is the percentage of the previous to give width
so when worked out 305/70/16 = 33x12.2
and 285/75/16 = 33x11.2
The '285' is the width in mm, the '75' is the profile height in percent of width.
Speaking in general terms - a 305/70R16 is usually formed in the same mould as a 33/12.50R15. Only the hole in the centre is different. The overal diameter should be about 32.4". A 285/75R16 is about 32.9". (Forgive me I'm working from memory). There is naturally some variation between manufacturers but it is normally not significant.
The old BFG Baja 33's were a size that doesn't meet the Australian Tyre & Rim association guidelines regarding diameter (which is absolutely meaningless), and who cares. One third of an inch divided by two is not really a significant loss of ground clearance, and shouldn't mean you'll ever have to spend an extra night in the bush.
