Ive been having some trouble with my petrol system lately where the car, when switched from LPG will drive for a while then it will cut out like its running out of fuel. Sometimes it drives for ages on petrol sometimes it drives for 5 seconds.
Last weekend I changed the fuel filter near the carby and noticed that it appears to be upside down. How does everyone else's sit? The petrol hoses can only go one way on mine due to their length. Changing the filter didnt make a difference.
The petrol goes from the LRA tank to the bottom of the fuel filter then from the top of the filter to the mechanical pump then into the carby.
Is everyone elses the same? It seems odd that the fuel pump is fed from the top of the filter rather than from the bottom.
Would there be a fuel pump in the LRA tank as well as the mechanical one on the engine?
Thanks guys,
Dan

A speed camera would have prevented that!
Thanks for that mate. At least I can rule that out now.RoadNazi wrote:Mine sits upright next to and slightly below the carby. The fuel flow is the same as yours being:
Tank to bottom of filter,
then from top of filter to mechanical fuel pump,
then to the carby.
There is no other pump in the fuel tank as I think that only occured in EFi models. AFAIK
cheers

Hopefully I get some time to take the carby apart this weekend. Once thats sorted I can take it to get the LPG tuned properly. My mates early 80's suzi puts my car to shame when Im on LPG. When the petrol works it revs cleanly all the way to redline but LPG dies after 2500 rpm

Now that I think about it the carby only had issues after I took it off road for the first time.
My Dad did 100kms with it when we first got it and he didnt have any troubles I dont think.
Is possible the lock off solonoid got wet and is now acting strange due to a bad connection?
When I floor it on petrol there is a strange ticking noise coming from the engine bay. When its on gas the sound isnt there.
Does anyone have any ideas?
