has anyone removed the power steering bracket from a 3L
reson is im half way through doing my high steer conversion, and one of
the resons why im going high steer is that the power steering pump keeps
braking off the mounts and blowing the steals in my sterring box. so to
stop this happening to my IFS box I want every thing right. the last time it broke the pump bolt broke off in the tread and i wont be able to do up the pump on the old braket.
So i went and brought a braket from the wreckers to swap over but its not the easiest job as the braket forms part of the engine mount.
Any help from people who have done this before would be great.

Pump
Had to change my alternator today and while fitting the power steering pump belt back on (was thrown off) i noticed that the pump isn't that sturdily held.
I noticed there is a hole (threaded) in the block that is inline with the back of the pump where there was also a hole (threaded). Thinking about making a bracket to connect the two for extra support.
Anyone think of anything that could cause a problem?

From what I have read, the pump shearing bolts can be a common problem. I have just had it happen to my IFS 4Runner.
There is a long discussion about it here.

I talked to another guy about it, the "safety bolt" next to the pinch bolt mod has worked ok for him.
